Environmental Services Technology in Healhtcare

By Kyle Muzny

I saw my neighbor sitting in a lawn chair watching a Roomba-like robot mow his grass. A robot. Mowing grass. I was annoyed and impressed and jealous, all at the same time!! We know technology in the medical tech field is ever-expanding, but TruAsset functions for Environmental Services departments as well. The lawn mowing robot got me thinking about how important tech is in the ES departments at hospitals.

In the world of environmental services, technology is king. From robots that can scrub floors to apps that track inventory, there are a growing number of ways that technology can help environmental services professionals do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.

One of the most important ways that technology can improve productivity in environmental services is by helping to organize assets. This includes everything from cleaning supplies to equipment. When assets are organized, it’s easier to find what you need when you need it. This saves time and frustration, and it can also help to prevent accidents.

For example, let’s say you’re a janitor and you need to clean a patient room. If all of your cleaning supplies are scattered all over the place, it’s going to take you a lot longer to find what you need. But if all of your supplies are organized in a closet or cart, you can just grab what you need and get to work.

Another way that technology can improve productivity in environmental services is by automating tasks. For example, there are robots that can now scrub floors, clean windows, and even empty trash cans. These robots can do a lot of the heavy lifting, which frees up environmental services professionals to focus on other tasks.

Of course, technology isn’t a magic bullet. It’s still important for environmental services professionals to be trained on how to use new technologies effectively. But overall, technology can be a powerful tool for improving productivity in environmental services.

So if you’re an environmental services professional, don’t be afraid to embrace technology. It can help you clean up your act and get your work done more efficiently.
